We are very excited to welcome our community and supporters to Part II of our Speaking Out: Stuttering Advocacy series for the 2019-2020 season.

Building on the conversation from our Part I event in September, this evening will feature a facilitated dialogue between professionals who stutter and HR representatives discussing issues of job searching, recruiting, interviewing, and hiring with a hidden communication disability.

This event is open to all members of the stuttering community, AND to non-stuttering professionals in HR, recruitment, talent, and Diversity & Inclusion roles.

The purpose of this event is to bring together people who stutter (PWS) and Human Resources who do NOT have exposure to this disability, facilitating open and practical dialogue about how stuttering impacts the hiring process and experience on both sides of the table. Topics of discussion will include hiring processes and practices (phone screens, interviews), when/if/how to address stuttering during the hiring process, and ADA considerations for both job seekers who stutter and employers.

The event will feature a facilitated panel of both professionals who stutter and Human Resources discussing these questions. This is an interactive event, and audience members are encouraged to ask questions of panelists, respond to comments, and share their own experiences and insights.

We would like to thank Freeborn & Peters LLP for hosting this event and for their commitment to supporting diverse communication in the workplace.
